# Connect BitFreighter to Owlery

> Connect your brokerage to Owlery through BitFreighter so tenders, pricing, and load updates flow automatically.

This page is for **Carriers & Brokers**. A shipper's carriers and brokers use Owlery the same way, so this page applies to both. If the person you're helping isn't a carrier or broker, this page doesn't apply to them.

If your brokerage uses BitFreighter, you can connect it to Owlery so tenders, live pricing, and load updates flow between your TMS and your shipper automatically.

Owlery supports connecting through BitFreighter. The connection is set up per shipper, with Owlery, BitFreighter, and your team each playing a part.

## Part 1: Contact Owlery

Email [**support@owlery.ai**](mailto:support@owlery.ai) with the shipper you want to connect. Owlery will let you know what's needed to turn on the connection for that shipper.

## Part 2: Get Your TMS Ready

Make sure your TMS can handle both directions of the connection.

| Your TMS receives | Your TMS sends |
| - | - |
| New tenders | Tender acceptance or decline |
| Tender changes | Tracking updates |
| Cancellations | Appointment updates |
| | Invoices |

## Part 3: Ask BitFreighter to Connect Your Shipper

> [!NOTE]
>
> Wait until Owlery confirms the connection and your TMS is ready before you contact BitFreighter.

**1. Contact BitFreighter**

Reach out to your BitFreighter contact and ask them to connect your shipper (your customer on Owlery) to your brokerage. Ask them to turn on:

* **Tendering**: tenders from your shipper reach your TMS.
* **Pricing**: Owlery can request live rates from you.
* **Return updates**: your responses and load updates flow back to Owlery.

**2. Have BitFreighter send Owlery the connection details**

BitFreighter shares the connection details with Owlery directly, using a secure method. See [What BitFreighter Provides](#what-bitfreighter-provides) for the full list.

## What BitFreighter Provides

BitFreighter sends these to Owlery as part of the connection.

* **Shipper BitFreighter ID**
* **Broker BitFreighter ID**: your brokerage's ID
* **API key**: used for tendering
* **Client ID, Client Secret, and rating shipper identifier**: used for live pricing

BitFreighter also turns on the trading-partner relationship between your shipper and your brokerage. Owlery gives BitFreighter a callback URL and token so return events reach Owlery.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Credentials should never be sent in plain-text email. BitFreighter should share them with Owlery through a secure method.

## Verify the Connection

Once BitFreighter confirms the setup, the Owlery team runs a test tender and load with you. This confirms that tenders reach your TMS and that your responses, tracking, and invoices flow back to Owlery.

## Need Help?

If anything isn't working or you're unsure what to ask BitFreighter for, email [**support@owlery.ai**](mailto:support@owlery.ai).
