# Set Up the Driver Check-In Kiosk

> Put a tablet in your lobby so drivers can check themselves in and out of their appointments.

This page is for **Facilities**: warehouse and dock teams that run their facility's appointment schedule in Owlery. If the person you're helping isn't on a facility team, this page doesn't apply to them.

**Where to find it:** `Dock Scheduling → Driver Check-in / Out` (also a button on the **Appointments** page)

The kiosk turns a tablet in your lobby into a check-in screen. Drivers find their appointment and tap one button when they arrive and another when they leave. Owlery updates the appointment for your team. Your team can still [check drivers in from the dock schedule](https://help.owlery.ai/facilities/driver-check-in.md).

**Confirmed** → (driver taps **Check in**) → **Arrived** → (driver taps **Check out**) → **Departed**.

## Before You Start

* **Access to the facility**: You need to be able to manage the facility's profile in Owlery. If you don't see **Driver Check-in / Out** in the sidebar, ask whoever manages your Owlery account to give you access.
* **Facility time zone**: The facility needs a time zone, or setup won't continue. Set it in your [facility profile](https://help.owlery.ai/facilities/facility-profile.md).
* **A tablet**: Any tablet with a web browser works. Sign in to Owlery on it as yourself.

## Set Up the Tablet

**1. Open Driver Check-in / Out**

On the tablet, go to `Dock Scheduling → Driver Check-in / Out`.

**2. Pick your facility**

The tablet only shows appointments for this one facility.

**3. Set a 4-digit exit passcode**

The tablet is signed in to Owlery as you. The passcode keeps drivers from closing the kiosk and getting into your account. Drivers never need it.

> [!WARNING]
>
> If you choose **Skip**, anyone at the tablet can close the kiosk and use Owlery as you.

**4. Tap Save & enter**

The kiosk opens full screen with today's appointments. While it's open, the tablet can't go to any other Owlery page.

> [!NOTE]
>
> The facility and passcode are saved in that browser on that tablet only. If you switch tablets, use a different browser, or clear the browser's data, set it up again.

## What Drivers Do

Drivers search for their appointment by reference number or customer name, then tap the button on its row.

| Button | What happens |
| - | - |
| **Check in** | The driver confirms their name, carrier, and truck and trailer numbers. The appointment moves to **Arrived** when they submit. |
| **Check out** | The appointment moves to **Departed** right away. There's no confirm step. |
| **Done** | The driver already checked out. Nothing to do. |

The kiosk lists today's confirmed and proposed appointments in time order. It updates on its own, so no one needs to refresh it. If a driver can't find their appointment, the screen tells them to ask the front desk.

## Fix a Wrong Check-In or Check-Out

Any driver can tap any row, and **Check out** happens in one tap. If a driver taps the wrong appointment, open it from the **Appointments** page and change its status back. See [Edit an Appointment](https://help.owlery.ai/facilities/manage-appointments.md#edit-an-appointment).

## Close the Kiosk

Tap the **✕** in the corner and enter the exit passcode. You're back on Dock Scheduling.

* **Forgot the passcode**: Tap the **✕**, choose the forgot-passcode option, and sign in to Owlery again. Then set a new passcode.
* **Switch facilities**: Close the kiosk, then open **Driver Check-in / Out** again and pick the new facility.
